NEWS>October 2004 - NEW Bespoke EMU Units

A-Belco Engineering (formerly BALs Industrial Accessories) is extending its Ralyester Range of products with the new compact Earth Leakage and Monitoring Units, designed for both indoor and outdoor applications.

The ELEM combines both residual current (RCD) and earth monitoring (EMU) protection in one compact unit and is available as a complete custom build product.

Manufactured from a choice of polyester glass-fibre reinforced, halogen-free self extinguishing thermoplastic, stainless steel or mild steel material enclosures, the wall mounted units offer high resistance to corrosion with IP ratings from IP44 to IP66, making the units ideal for all outdoor appliances including pressure washers, welding outlets, maintenance tools and portable equipment.

The EMU & ELEM Units also offer the option of transparent polycarbonate covers for visual inspection of the internal components, allowing the state of EMU to be closely monitored.

A 30mA RCD facility built into the device is activated when a difference in current is detected, whilst the EMU ensures that a suitable earth connection between an electrical supply point and appliance is present.

The RCDs proceed to interrupt the circuit automatically when earth leakage currents exceed the predetermined value.

Suitable for BS196, BS4343 and IEC 60309 sockets the units feature a current range from 15 to 125Amps, and 240V, three phase 415V and three phase and neutral 415 Volts.

A-Belco also offers variations of design to incorporate isolation, short circuit and overload protection according to individual customer requirements.
